Description
Experience Level: Entry
I am looking for a native Spanish speaker with a background in literary translation or creative writing to review and polish a Spanish translation of a personal essay.
The essay is a piece of creative non-fiction (approx. 3220 words). The translation has already been completed, but I need another set of eyes to ensure the rhythm, emotional weight, and imagery land correctly for a native reader.
This is not a corporate document, a news report, or a technical manual. It is a poetic narrative.
Do not sterilise the language. The text employs metaphors, personification, and specific imagery.
Preserve the imagery. If a sentence seems structurally unusual because it is metaphorical, please discuss with me to ensure the intention is coming across accurately.
Rhythm matters. The prose relies on cadence and sound (prosody). The Spanish needs to flow with the same gravity and lyricism as the English original.
What I need you to do:
Read the Spanish translation alongside the English original.
Correct any genuine grammatical errors or unnatural phrasing.
Flag/Edit instances where the rhythm is clunky.
Protect or clarify the creative choices.
Ideal Candidate:
Native Spanish speaker.
Experience translating or editing fiction, poetry, or creative essays.
Understands the difference between literal accuracy and emotional truth.
To Apply: Please provide a brief example of literary or creative work you have translated or edited.
