Advice on translating

Hello. I saw your ad and hoped you may be wiliing to offer me a little bit of advice in becomming a translator. I am a native english speaker and hope to translate to and from french, and other languages in the future. Would you be able to tell me any difficulties or common chalenges I should expect when starting out? Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
