Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: less than 1 week
Write a chapter for an "Operations Manual" for pilots who operate long-range business jets describing "adverse and potentially hazardous atmospheric conditions".
The chapter will describe the hazards to jet aircraft from the following conditions:
(a) Thunderstorms;
(b) Icing conditions;
(c) Turbulence;
(d) Windshear;
(e) Jetstream;
(f) Volcanic ash clouds;
(g) Heavy precipitation;
(h) Sand storms;
(i) Mountain waves; and
(j) Significant Temperature inversions.
The chapter will also provide generic advice on how to avoid these conditions and what to do in the event of inadvertent flight into hazardous conditions. The chapter does not need to include aircraft operating instructions (these are covered in another part of the manual). As an example the chapter might advise pilots to use weather radar to avoid thunderstorms by 20 miles but it does not need to describe how to operate weather radar.
• I estimate that the chapter may be about 4000 words in length but the number of words is not an important consideration.
• I guess that this will be three to five days' work depending on your existing knowledge and how much time you spend on research.
• You will need to identify suitable sources for your research.
• Before I select an author I will ask you to provide a short sample of a similar piece of work you've done (300-500 words).
• I have set an approximate budget but I am open to offers above and below this amount. Quality of the work is more important than price.
