Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 1 - 6 months
Client: Delco Elevator Products Ltd. (supplier of elevator packages; we do not install)
Timeline: Key milestone deliverable due March 31, 2026.
Deadline to submit proposal: Feb 10th
Budget: Please propose a fixed fee and estimated hours (we will select based on fit + clarity + speed).
Background:
We currently support a high volume of new-construction elevator package requests (about 80 quotes per month), but we’re often brought in after the building drawings have already been developed around proprietary OEM elevator assumptions. At that point, it can be difficult to offer a non-proprietary alternative that fits the existing hoistway, and we may miss opportunities simply because design teams aren’t yet familiar with Delco. We have one architect in New York City who is already specifying Delco in early drawings, and we’re looking to understand what made that possible and build a repeatable approach to expand that success to other firms and regions.
Project Objective (by March 31):
Deliver a practical “specifier-ready” pilot kit that helps architects size cores/hoistways around Delco’s most common MRL packages (NYC/NJ focus) and makes it easy to include Delco as basis-of-design in drawings/notes.
Scope of Work (Phase 1: now → March 31)
You will lead and produce the following deliverables:
1. Hoistway Planning Guide v1 (MRL) — architect-facing PDF with tables (min + recommended ranges) for standard configurations provided by Delco.
2. Drawing Note Library v1 — paste-ready basis-of-design notes, including non-proprietary alternate language.
3. Design Assist workflow — intake form + 48-hour layout pack template + versioning rules.
4. Interview sprint + findings — 10–12 interviews with architects/specifiers (NYC/NJ) + a short “decision-map” summary: how elevator packages get specified, where Delco can influence earlier, and recommended channels.
5. NYC/NJ outreach kit — target list (30 firms + roles), outreach scripts, and a simple weekly KPI scorecard/tracking sheet.
Out of scope for Phase 1 (likely Phase 2): Revit families/library buildout, full CSI/CSC 3-part spec, CE accreditation/course packaging, multi-metro rollout.
What we provide
• Technical inputs on our standard MRL configurations (e.g., 2500/3500 lbs @ 200/350 fpm; beam vs rail mounted)
• Access to internal estimating/engineering for dimension ranges and assumptions
• A known NYC architect example (where available) for reference language
IDEAL FREELANCER PROFILE:
• Experience with architectural specifications / technical design standards (CSI/CSC exposure a plus)
• Able to produce clean, architect-friendly guides and note language
• Comfortable interviewing A/E professionals and synthesizing actionable insights
• Strong project management: weekly check-ins, clear drafts, quick iteration
PROPOSAL REQUIREMENTS:
Please include:
1. Relevant experience (2–3 examples of similar “specifier” or AEC technical content work)
2. Your approach and week-by-week plan to March 31
3. Fixed fee (or fee range) + estimated hours
4. Availability and lead times
5. Any assumptions/risks you see
Selection Process
We will accept proposals for ~1 week., interview finalists, and award quickly. Work starts immediately after selection.
What: Phase 1 – to be completed by March 31 will include the following deliverables
March 31 “Significant Deliverable”
Delco New Construction Spec-In Pilot Kit (MRL, NYC/NJ v1) consisting of:
1. Hoistway Planning Guide v1 (architect-facing; preliminary ranges OK)
2. Drawing Note Library v1 (basis-of-design + non-proprietary alternates; paste-ready)
3. Design Assist workflow + intake form + 48-hour output template
4. NYC/NJ target list (30 firms + named roles) + outreach scripts
5. Interview decision-map summary (10–12 interviews + findings + recommendations)
6. Pilot scorecard (weekly KPIs + simple tracking sheet)
Phase 2 (after Mar 31): Revit families, full CSI/CSC 3-part spec, CE accreditation, multi-metro scaling.
