Description
Industry: Business
Topic: Cover Letter for an Academic Job
Tone: Formal/Professional
Extensive research needed: no
Extra notes: Hi there,
I am currently applying to a job as an Associate Professor in a French Business School. The add being written in English, so should the Cover Letter be. As I am a French native speaker, I have done my best to write a grammatically correct cover letter in English, but there's a job at stake, so I would badly need an English native speaker to take a glance at my paper. It's one and half page long, so I mentioned roughly 750 words.
It's attached here. Of course, the sooner, the better...
Native English speakers only (UK, US, NZ, AUS, IN, IR)
The rate is negociable.
Thanks for your quotes!
Best regards

Hi Coralie,
I kinda share the same questions with your prospective freelancer here. Do you need a cover letter or a statement of qualifications? Let me know. Thanks.Coralie F.09 Nov 2016Hello,
Thanks for your reply.
I have answered your questions and David's a moment ago. Please feel free to let me know if it's clarified enough.
Best regards

I read your document. Do you seek simple proofing or more complex editing? What about length? Are you trying to consolidate your somewhat protracted cover letter? Are you looking at syntax? Do you, for example, want to transpose your prepositions where they will be stronger?
I am just trying to get an idea of how you evaluate your letter.Coralie F.09 Nov 2016Dear David, thanks for your message. In fact, this letter is intended to a French reader, in a higher education institution.
I sounds ludicrous that 2 French persons write to each other in English, but it looks part of the hiring process.
Thus, the Cover Letter contains basically what it is meant to contain in a French Cover Letter, granted that the Hiring Committee will read the letter first.
I am aware that such a letter may not match an English reader's expectations and it would definitely play a role should I ever apply in the UK or in the US.
In this present case, what I need is to make sure the text is correct from a grammatical and spelling standpoints and reads smoothly (that is native or near native) should a British or American academic read the letter.
Thanks in advance for your reply. I hope it helps clarifying.
Best regards
