Description
Experience Level: Expert
Industry: Healthcare
Topic: Formatting Book
Tone: Formal/Professional
Extensive research needed: no
Extra notes: I have a book that needs to be collated and formatted following the guidelines for my publisher.
The book consists of 15 chapters which are in word documents , they need to be collated into one master document and following these guidelines..
Page numbering Please number the pages of the manuscript consecutively to enable easy reference to a particular passage on a page – important if the copyeditor has queries in relation to the text – they will provide you with the relevant page number/paragraph/line reference.
Margins, alignment and hyphenation Leave uniform margins of 2.5–3cm at the top, bottom, right and left of every page. Do not justify lines; align text left and leave uneven (‘ragged’) on the right. Do not manually hyphenate words at the end of a line; let a line run short or long rather than break a word.
Typeface and formatting Use Times New Roman at a type size of 12 point for running text throughout. You may use other fonts to distinguish between different types of text, for example case studies, but note that decisions about the typeface used to typeset the book is at the discretion of JKP. Do not put text in boxes – indicate boxed text using a code at the beginning and end, e.g. [Box begins] and [Box ends] or similar.
Double spacing Use double line spacing for the entire manuscript, including the title, headings, footnotes, quotations, references, figure captions and tables. There should be no more than 25 lines of text per manuscript page. Our copyeditors mark up a hard copy of the manuscript, and this provides them with sufficient space to do so
