Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: 3 - 4 weeks
Num. of words: 10,000
Topic: Technology
Tone: Highly articulate, conversational & riveting, authoritative yet approachable, high-octane/snappily paced/high energy
Extensive research needed: no, but light touch googling to confirm/refine facts quoted
Extra notes: Ex-journalist and industry speaker with extremely hectic work and personal schedule needing help from excellent editor/proofreader/writer to shape an ambitious book proposal due end-May 2017.
The theme of the book is the digital economy and those groundbreaking technologies that will have the power to transform our lives in the next decade.
I have been asked by interested publishers to submit an initial proposal consisting of:
Proposed intro (eg to draw a reader in, and including my bio/creds)
Sample chapter: Approx 8000 words
I am doing the bulk of the writing so this isn't a ghostwriting gig. However, as am so immersed in the subject matter, I'd like an outsider to help edit this proposal with a fresh pair of eyes (plus journos aren't always the best people to edit their own work!).
Rather than send all the draft writing at one shot, I'd like to be able to piecemeal it out as and when I do a section as am currently pulling together all my notes and ideas. I'd need you to be able to help string it all together and establish flow, momentum and readability so that as a cohesive piece, it comes across as fluid, well-paced (and not disjointed!). I'd also expect for you to make suggestions, eg where you spot there needs to be a joiner/segway/transition (eg between thoughts/paras/sub-topics), I'd need you to flag it to me.
Happy to offer any more details upon request. Budget tbc but is moderate and fair as this is a personal project.

Hello,
Is the proposal really going to be 10,000 words?
Thanks!
JenniferShivvyJ A.26 Apr 2017Thanks for posting Jennifer - apologies am not entirely sure of the exact context of your query ie does "really going to be" imply - a) will the final output/ book proposal "definitely" be a total of 10,000 words or b) you're expressing incredulity that a book proposal is that high a word count? :)
As the brief states it is 10,000 words in total yes - 8,000 words for a sample chapter and hence the rest for the introduction :)
Hope this helps.
