Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Num. of words: 90,000
Industry: Business
Topic: Craft of communication
Tone: Informal/Casual
Extensive research needed: no
Extra notes:
Outline & Structure: I run a communication training company called London Speech Workshop, which I set up in 2008. We have had the privilege to work with very high profile clients, from Korean billionaires through to CEO's of top FTSE 100 companies. We have a unique methodology which has worked very well.
I am now writing the book of our methodology which covers communication skills from verbal skills through to non verbal, through to content and style of communication (i.e. conflict resolution, listening skills, rapport building).
I am currently working on the second draft. I need an editor to help me lose around 15,000 words, take out repetition, and essentially assist me in making it as excellent as it deserves to be.
Looking for an editor who is very organised, has a clear head and can keep perspective on the bigger picture as well as work on detail, a great instinct for succinctness (i'm definitely wordy), and loves words and metaphor (like I do). Would help also if they have some passion for communication, and are a completer finisher type.
I would like this to be a relationship of 4 to 6 weeks, and ideally I would like the book to be finished by middle of August. I envisage a first edit (for the successful editor) I do a rewrite, and then a second edit.
There might also be some research to do. I would love someone to step in passionately to this and get started quickly.
Extra notes:
If you are interested please email me with how you would approach this task, how many hours you think this would take, and what you feel you will bring to the project.
I have also attached the first 12 pages of the book so you can get an idea of my writing style and if you feel its a fit. If you do, then feel free to come back to me with some broad brush stroke suggestions of what you like and what you'd lose from that (or what doesnt fit, or any other thoughts) so I can get a sense of your approach. If that feels like a fit, I will suggest a section for some paid editing.
The book is currently at 90,000 words, 250 pages, and I am currently doing the second draft. Please include in your quote, how many hours you would expect to spend on 10,000 words. And any particular interest you have in this subject matter, as well as previous editing experience.
I am looking to pay an hourly fee or a full project fee, so you can quote me for both or either.
Thank you
