WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

The best way to describe this role is a VIDEO SCRIPT JOURNALIST.

The right person for this role must possess several different qualities.

You are a native English speaker, or completely fluent.

You are very interested in learning and already familiar with topics such as:
Psychology, Behaviour Change, Health, Diet, Science, Learning, Self-Improvement, Food and Nutrition.

You are a curious and meticulous RESEARCHER. You have an eye for interesting information. You know how to dive beneath the surface level info to find new, interesting info that others may not find. You like to deep dive, peeling back the layers on a topic as you learn more about it. You are able to read and understand Scientific Journals. You are able to find interesting sound bites and video clips.

At the same time - you must also be a stellar STORYTELLER. You have a talent to see an interesting story emerging in the research. You understand the importance of flow and know how to keep a viewer engaged. You know how to cut the point without sacrificing in completeness.

Finally, you must be a top-notch WRITER. To round out this position, you are able to take all of the research and write the story into a video script. You are a journalistic writer. You are able to channel the stories that you see in the research into easy-to-understand, engaging content. You are able to write meaningful, constructive sentences in a friendly, relatable and personable tone.

THE JOB:

Your job will be to work with my client directly. You will be assisting her with the research and scriptwriting portions of her video content creation process. The end result will be a video essay that she will film and edit.

My client will provide the topic ideas, as well as a Initial Research Document. My client will start the research process and give some guidance as to where she thinks the research and story are heading.

You will take over from here. Your task will be to:

- Review the Initial Research Document and have a brief phone/zoom call with my client to ask any questions.
- Research the topic provided thoroughly, taking any direction my client has provided.
- Find new information (from the web, scientific journals, video clips, sound bites, etc.)
- Begin to outline potential storylines as they unfold, prepare for writing.
- Write a rough copy of a video script.
- Mid-way check in call with client if necessary to evaluate and adjust.

The expected turnaround time on each task is within 7 days.
Once the right person is found, there will be a new task each week.
This job will ideally be a flexible, part-time permanent position.

BUDGET:
$25-40/hour
