Description
Tone: Colloquial
Extensive research needed: yes
Extra notes: Looking perhaps for a needle in a haystack. I am a teacher who has a well fleshed out idea for a novel that I've been researching, outlining and planning for over 17 years. I have lots of personal and creative goals and ambitions for the novel that will certainly seem like a eclectic mix to anyone who takes this on.
I am looking for someone who is familiar with or Spain and Barcelona and the Balearic Islands or at least willing to research and learn about it. I am looking for someone who is familiar with adoption, for someone who has a love for the classic literature and classic lore and classical tragedy. I also need someone is familiar with black people and because of race but because this is NOT about race with-so-ever. I don't even want it mentioning not once. It one of the creative goals I have. I need someone who familiar with religion, namely the Old Testament and the Apocryphal - because this is what this story is attempting to be a modern day apocryphal. But the heart of what I have created so far is in the story form of a Gatsby-esque tale. What i have needs cleaning up, taken from inspirations such as Gatsby, Neil Gaiman's Sandman series, Spanish cinema. I need an illustrator too to make a few 'Victorian-style' ink drawings because I want the book to look old and hardback like one of those Thomas Hardy classics, lol, but that is another project I suppose.
I have a Balearic island at the center of everything about this story. I am trying to set a new expectation as to what a 'black story' could be about. I am trying to set a new expectation to what a 'Spanish story' could be about too. There is a grand tale here to tell but it needs a love story, it needs a female center, it needs a tragedy, it needs the surreal, it needs the street and most of all it needs the island.
I have carefully thought out chapter names, characters, themes, setting, motivations and a quite complex interweaving story line that takes in many narratives. I've got complex flowcharts of the story lines. It's ambitious and it scares me. I am scared to screw it up. This is why I definitely need help. Over the years I've gone from the most impossible narrative to complete to one that is plausible to complete but still out of my league to execute.
I have plenty of files and documentation ready to share with the right person. And boy am i ready to share.
I don't know if someone can write the entire word count or indeed a few chapters for me to then get on with. I guess it is depending on the price on offer and the experience of the ghost writer to tease more out me or go for it themselves. But I am looking forward to working closely with this person in completing a life-long passion project into perhaps a commercial viable book.
I made a promise to myself 17 years ago to write this by the time i am 50. That's 3 years to go in February, so my time is ticking. I think need to pay in installments for any interested writers out there. And will take the entire Proposal period in to decide who is best to work with. I hope I've given enough information for now without sharing files.

Can you give an idea of what your budget is?
Sharron W.04 Dec 2017My budget? Errm, I don't really know how much I want to pour-in, LOL! What does £300 for starters get me in your book. I guess I was thinking of paying in installments. I am just a normal full-time school teacher, nothing fancy, no entitlements. Thank you for asking. I guess I should put this on my posting as well as i would assume this will be a very common query.
Pamela K.04 Dec 2017Hi Sharon,
It will definitely be a common enquiry. When looking for a ghostwriter it can be difficult to find a balance between quality and budget. If you want to look at getting your book published you'll need to be willing to pay a little bit more for a ghost than if this is a just a project for yourself. Another way to keep costs down is to do the bulk of the writing yourself, even if you don't think it's very good, and have someone do a re-write. Most ghosts will charge a lower fee for this as the bulk of the imaginative work has already been done.
If you're looking to pay in instalments then I would recommend paying either per word or per page, that way you can pay as you go along. As an example, at my minimum writing fee £300 would get a chapter of around 1,200 words.
I hope that info is helpful. The more info you can give in your job description, the more accurate people can be with their proposals. :)
