Script lines for documentary on ESL students/teaching/grit

We are doing a documentary about an undocumented ESL student who was in a teacher's class in college. He worked under the table in odd jobs, had no family or money, but eventually got his MBA at an American Univ. The beginning of the documentary is the teacher speaking about how common it is to have such students in college classes but also mention that some students who succeed have something about them - grit and perseverance. This is what she noticed about the student Victor. What is needed: 1. An introduction with the teacher speaking - she has taught for many years. She has come to realize that sometimes it's not having everything that leads to success but rather having little. One of these students was Victor who stood out. This intro should be an attention grabber and be 15- 20 sentences. 2. Also needed are some very powerful phrases about motivation, grit, perseverance and how those elements lead to success and especially in his case. 3. A few sentences about how tired he would be in class yet he did the work (perhaps what she noticed in class about him) 4. Sentences about how difficult it is to get accustomed to a new country let alone as someone who is undocumented and learning the language. 5. And a few sentences that conclude with comments about qualities that lead to success and educational attainment. There are a few talks TEDtalks about grit. Some good ideas there but don't want to use that. 6. Looking for very powerful language so that educators and college students are moved, impacted. THe teacher's words will be interspersed throughout the film.
