Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 3 - 4 weeks
We are a management consultant specialising in health systems design and a doctor of futurology (PHD).
This project is a crossover between a piece of technical writing (on how to design and run a health system) and creative writing (putting this in a sci-fi short story to make it more engaging for readers). We will provide the technical content / direction and you will provide the creativity and top-class writing ability. The audience will likely be senior policy people in governments and private organisations working in health - an hopefully some people who also just enjoy good sci-fi stories!
We are reaching out at this initial very early concept stage to find the right person to work with who will support us through the whole process from ideation to publication. You should not therefore expect a full brief but rather to provide significant guidance and to work collaboratively over a period of 3 to 4 weeks.
You should budget for a minimum of two x 1 hour Zoom calls to explore the topic with us and several rounds of questions, comments/feedback and revision. We will answer any questions promptly and quickly outside of these calls.
We are open to your advice but at this early stage we foresee that we would provide an extensive list of 'health system features' (say 20) that we see as being possible in future (say by 2030) e.g. implant/watch that looks ahead at your diary for the day/week and advices on how you could make it healthier / safer. The ghost writer's challenge would be to weave as many of these features (not all technology based) into a coherent and engaging story. The setting would be a new colony / environment where everything was able to be created from scratch (no legacy other than that brought by the residents) e.g. new planet, new underwater city, new country on manmade island.
We also require the writer to identify what graphics / artwork would enhance the story and produce specifications for these than can be posted on PPH.
An example of the type of thing we are looking for can be found here: https://news.microsoft.com/features/future-visions-anthology-brings-together-science-fiction-and-science-fact/
The story will be published online.
