YouTube / Social Video Script Writer

Crows Landing Productions is currently hiring an enthusiastic and versatile Freelance Social Video Writer for its YouTube series focused on fact-based unsolved mysteries and paranormal phenomena.

The Freelance Social Video Writer will be provided a video topic, a content brief, and suggested resources and is responsible for researching and writing short-form, documentary style scripts with a mysterious, sometimes creepy tone. Scripts are typically 1,000 to 2,000 words and will be read by a narrator to provide voiceover. Shorter scripts in the range of 250 to 500 words may also be requested. A video editor / visual storyteller will then bring your script to life using archival footage, stock assets, and a compelling soundtrack. Multiple video topics will be assigned weekly.

The ideal candidate is familiar with the online video landscape, especially YouTube and Facebook, and is adept at writing high-quality, short form content in a fast-paced production environment. Past experience with “creepy” or horror-influenced is plus as is an interest in unsolved mysteries or paranormal phenomena.

Responsibilities

-Research and write scripts as assigned, mainly in the areas of unsolved mysteries, strange history and paranormal phenomena
-Adapt as creative assignments change and evolve, while maintaining quality

Qualifications

-Fluent in English
-Preference given to candidates with at least 1-2 years experience writing digital content and/or managing social channels, but anyone with proven writing skills will be seriously considered
-Willingness and enthusiasm to step into different roles as needed
-Self-motivated and able to keep projects moving
-Attention to detail and accuracy
-A positive and enthusiastic attitude
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-Ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment

Compensation

$50 USD per script (1,000 to 2,000 words)
$15 USD per short script (250 to 500 words)
2 - 4 scripts per week initially
