Description
Experience Level: Entry
Estimated project duration: Ongoing
I need a remote virtual assistant to spend up to 25 hours per month (£200) helping me with getting articles edited, formatted, and posted on other websites or blogs.
All training will be given, along with a Google Apps/Gmail email account to use - all you need is a PC/Mac with a half decent broadband connection. This is a very flexible ongoing role, and could fit around children (school holidays), pets or any other commitment.
About My Business
I'm an SEO with 25+ clients, getting their websites on page 1 on Google. Approx. 50% of SEO is to do with links, which now take the form (mainly) of articles placed on other websites which include a link back to the client website. It's about quality not quantity - getting a few articles published every month on high quality respected websites. That's where you come in.
About the Editor Role
I'll call it an "Editor" role, as it mainly involves managing words/content and talking to people about publishing. You're not expected to write copy - you would brief copywriters to get that created. In the SEO world, it's called outreach and/or link building, but I've avoided that language, as I'd prefer to take on someone new to this, and train them how to do it in an ethical, manageable way.
The Process
In short the process to go through would be:
1. Identify a list of websites in the clients' niche which accept content (I'd provide this until you were trained in this).
2. Approach these websites with friendly, engaging email asking if poss to contribute, along with article idea.
3. Follow up this email after one week to check received.
4. To all responses (might be 20%), work with website owner to agree content/article idea.
5. Brief copywriter to write article, receive article and edit/format ready for publication, making sure link to client is included in correct way.
6. Send to publisher and facilitate publication - extra info (bio, photos) might be needed.
7. Report back to me on monthly basis with list of published articles.
About You
1. You'll be literate - able to proof read articles and edit as necessary.
2. Imaginative - able to look at a website, and think of an article idea/theme which would fit and appeal to that website's owner/publisher.
3. Organised - able to send out numerous emails, follow up, track activity with copywriters, publishers - be a content project manager really.
4. IT Savvy - enough to use email and word, excel, etc, but also open to learn to use other software specific to SEO, and others.
5. Flexible - a thirst to learn, and to understand that if one way of working doesn't work, to try another...and another. This is especially important with how first email is structured - tone, language, etc, as this can influence how many people respond.
6. Autonomous - once trained (which never actually ends; SEO always changes), you will be able to work independently, and set up a workflow which works for you, and provides results consistently for clients.
I very much look forward to hearing from you, and happy to answer any queries.
Kind regards,
Geoff
