Description
Words per article: 300-400
Information for the blog/website: Music festival news
Industry: Entertainment
Topic: UK music festival news
Tone: Formal/Professional
Outline & Structure: We currently have an exciting opportunity for the forthcoming music festival season (May – September).
The successful applicant will produce 15 publishable 300-400 word news stories per week (with images wherever possible). News articles will be submitted regularly and spread across the week, rather than 15 articles submitted on a Friday (for example).
Applicants will need to have an interest and knowledge of the current music industry across all genres, and be able to produce accurate and informative news content to appear in the news section of our festival website.
Content will be produced on a freelance basis, with a rolling weekly brief of 15 pieces of news content for £150. A payment of £150 will be made at the end of each week when 15 pieces have been submitted.
The situation will be reviewed in September with a view to possibly extending the arrangement.

£150 for 15 articles?... with all due respect, your content is gonna suck... I don't know who convinced you that your rates are fair, but they are not... £10 for 400 words is maybe fair in Bangladesh, but anyone who'll write for that in the UK is going to be an amateur or a chancer...
Billy C.25 Apr 2017Thank you for your enquiry,
The rates reflect the amount of work required based on the fact that we are able to source a number of stories per week. Articles are required to be 300+ words, not necessarily 15x400, and whilst we are of course looking for original content we also receive a lot of information from event organisers, such as line-up announcements, stage splits etc, which I can pass on and will only need editing and restyling.
If you'd like to know any more details please feel free to get in touch.
ThanksNeil C.25 Apr 2017Each to their own I guess... I would suggest changing the job description though. Specialist Music Journalist and lackey... are two very different roles.

When are you looking to have the first batch of these written by Billy?
Billy C.25 Apr 2017First set of articles will be spread across 1-7 May.
ThanksFrancis E.25 Apr 2017Thanks Billy. Do you have the specific topics chosen or is this left to the writers discretion?

Is there any flexibility in your budget? Your rates are way below what would be expected for 400 words of intermediate copy.
I have my own music website so this would be a simple task for me, but I would expect slightly more per article than what your budget currently covers.
Best, SteBilly C.24 Apr 2017Hi Ste,
Thank you for your interest in our post.
Our budget for 15 articles is £150 – a price we believe to be fair for the amount of work required. However please feel free to send a proposal and we will certainly consider it.
Best wishes,

Hi Billy,
I'm an established/highly experienced UK journalist with an extensive music journalism portfolio. Is your budget flexible at all, or is it set in stone? If it is flexible and a bit more realistic, I may consider placing a bid. Many thanks.Billy C.24 Apr 2017Hello,
Thank you for getting in touch.
Our budget for 15 articles is £150 – a fee that has attracted interest from several experienced writers, and one we believe to be fair for the amount of work required.
However please feel free to send a proposal and we will certainly consider it.
Best wishes,
Billy
