Description
Experience Level: Entry
Num. of articles: 1
Words per article: 600
Industry: Publishing/Journalism
Topic: African Leadership; A Unified Africa
Tone: Instructional/Educational
Outline & Structure: The writeup should meet the following demands:
a. The deep-rooted issues/challenges/problems as related to the topics (direction would be given)
b. Originality of thought and writing style
c. Accurate and reliable statistics and hard facts
d. The mufti-faceted solution to the problems, without leaving loose ends
Note: the article is for TR magazine (Nigeria) and the writeup should be about 600 words.
Extensive research needed: not set
Extra notes: African leaders lack the genuine transformative and visionary spirit needed to develop the continent, rather they seem to have the same exploitative cognition of exploiting the people and underdeveloping the continent. Though we have seen some effort and perhaps change in African leadership in the last decade we are yet to get the dividend of development it promised. The fact that democracy has been the popular government and autocracy and dictatorship have been reduce to the shadows, African government are majorly still running autocratic and aristocratic system and the masses have little to show for their struggle for democracy.
The African Union as a continental power house is suppose to foster development through democracy, industrialization and trade amongst African nation, however it has become a figure-head where African leader applauded their shameful and fraudulent election malpractice and deliberate on how to maintain a back-row status in the comity of nations.
Focus; African leaders must create and pursue a vision that communicate relevant for the continent. Acts of governmental fraud, illegitimate government through election malpractice, anti developmental government policies etc should be condemned and sanctioned. Africans should be able to depend on a continental agenda, when the national government fails. African leaders must seek an encompassing resolve for the development of the continent as a whole and promote legitimacy and development as against competition and underdevelopment
