Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
I am writing a paper on head injuries after being punched.
I have 5 categories for injury needing figures (ideally in one figure):
First image: fist contacting side of face
1. Direct skull or brain injury [includes: a) skull fracture, b) extradural and/or acute subdural haematoma, c) fractures over the superior sagittal sinus (massive bleeding) and d) contusions (with depressed fractures)]
2. Vascular injury [a) Figure of torsional injury as head turns rapidly b) vertebral artery dissection c) Internal carotid injury of epithelium and thrombus formation (leading to stroke) d) massive basilar traumatic subarachnoid haemorrhage
3. Ground impact [a) falling back and hitting occiput of head b) compound image of skull fracture with brain contusion and subdural haematoma]
4. Impact apnoea [a) image of hypoxic brain]
5. Systemic events [compound image - a) lungs with pul. oedema b) myocardial hypoxic injury or infarct c) cirrotic liver and abnormal platelet function
Can be line drawings (as long as the pictures are better than mine!).
That sounds quite complicated but actually just one summary figure for each (can be a line drawing) would be great.
I have attached a draft version (my drawing is terrible!).
I can help you find links of similar images if needed.
Thank you for your help - let me know if you are interested in the job
