Junior Assistant Editor for new Beauty, Hair and Fashion portal

Junior Assistant Editor required for a new contemporary glossy luxury multi-ethnic portal featuring beauty, hair and fashion information, editorial features, latest trends and products for women world-wide.

We launch the first part of our site in May 2011.

We are a very small but highly skilled and created team led by an ex-BBC Journalist/Presenter who has created this portal. We have a very tight budget as just starting our company, so bear this in mind in your bidding.

Our project does however, offer great opportunites for grow and expansion and later full-time emplyoment for the right individual and we wish to find someone who is willing to go the extra mile, grow with our business and is as passionate about beauty, hair and fashion for the multi-ethnic market as we are.

What we are looking for:

An experienced independent writer/copyeditor/who has a multitude of skills. If you are starting out in your career this is great too, as we have found indivduals with long standing careers unflexilbe in thinking out of the box.

You must be a positive 'can do' type personality who is an all-rounder! You must have technical awareness of CMS, Photoshop and excellent writing and oral communication skills plus above average knowledge of Social Media marketing.


Duties:

Assisting the Editor in Chief.- Suggesting original content features, researching and writing copy on hair and beauty products and trends, uploading features and articles,

Some other Duties to assist us will be: Contacting interviewees, booking photo shoots, dealing with product manufacturers,distributors, stores, on- line shops and PR agencies. Handling bookings with celebrities, maintaining a data base, and contributing good copy and content for features and articles. Proofreading.

Job Requirements:

This position is 'off site' however, you must either reside in London or Greater London, England or have transport links that will enable you to get to central London at short notice. We will have weekly face to face meetings and regular skype meetings.

Have a working laptop with wireless internet

Have above working knowledge of desktop publishing, blogging, on-line portals Website operations and communication.

Skills and Person Specifications

WE do need you to have the following skills;

Excellent communication skills in written and oral English. A second language an advantage but not necessary.
A sharp eye, quick mind and proven attention to detail
Be able to work to set deadlines.

Very important

A creative thinker who has some knowledge of life outside England - with an understanding that beauty is not only ' one look' or defined by one ethnicity, this is very important to us, so if you have an international heritage, background or travel experience this will be most beneficial.

The Internet is the world. So its important to have an international mindset that women of all ethnicities and nationalities love fashion, beauty, hair and want to look fabulous!

We DO NOT require Fashion (apparel) writers! So please do not bid if this is your only or main area of experience.
