Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
We publish a lifestyle magazine aimed at disabled people and their families.
Brief
Number of words - 900
Lots of disabled people live with pain to a lesser or greater degree. We are looking for a
guide to finding ways of coping better with it.
Summary:
Pain can become overwhelming when experienced on a daily basis. Fortunately there’s a
lot of thinking going on to help people free themselves and achieve a brighter outlook.
Able Magazine continues to look at even difficult subjects from a positive perspective,
suggesting practical answers and solutions to the issues that count.
………………………………………………………………………………………………
Please include:
Pro’s and cons of medication – such as opioids. (Cover issues such as addiction
and long term side effects.)
Different approaches such as CBT or talking therapy, exercise, yoga, acupuncture,
meditation, massage and foodstuffs (cod liver oil) etc.
Discuss neuromodulation and/or neurostimulation.
Any significant studies from by respected bodies.
Realistic prognosis of future treatments – by respected bodies.
Signpost to useful organisations or online tools etc.
………………………………………………………………………………………………
Please note:
Please use any relevant stats, facts or figures – but make sure that they are
properly sourced.
Write to the reader. Our audience is primarily made up of disabled people and
their carers as well as healthcare professionals in the disability field.
Keep it positive. For example, regarding disability, we rarely say: “Suffering
from…” when we could say “Living with…” ‘We exist to inspire our readers
and empower them with ‘answers and solutions’.
Add any helpful information (at the end of your submission) such as telephone
numbers and web addresses of organisations relevant to the subject you have
written about. (Please no hyperlinks – they do not work in a printed publication.
Use reasonably short web URLs starting with www.)
Add any interesting/related facts, styled to small boxouts.
