Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Num. of articles: 2
Words per article: 1200
Information for the blog/website: We publish a print magazine aimed at disabled people
Industry: Publishing/Journalism
Topic: Discounts & concessions for disabled people
Tone: Informal/Casual
Outline & Structure: We print a magazine aimed at disabled people. Our next issue is our "Money" issue. We print a regionalised Scottish version of the publication also therefore I am looking for 2 versions of the same feature with one geared towards Scotland and one geared towards the rest of the UK.
Brief: Looking at organisations, attractions and services that provide concessions for disabled people as well as tips on where to find further money saving ideas.
Concessions can save you a tidy sum, especially if you use a particular service provider regularly. There are hundreds of organisations that apply concessionary rates to disabled people on receipt of valid evidence of their disability.
It’s always worth asking at the counter or searching specifically online since companies and organisation as diverse as Eurostar through to Cineworld have schemes that help disabled people either to enjoy a visit to a museum or to meet the needs of more practical expenditure when travelling etc.
We highlight some of our favourites. For instance, the top tour price at Buckingham Palace is £80 – but your carer gets in free!
(There are plenty of national chains that apply concessions but for Scotland’s Able we could certainly find Scottish organisations doing the same.)
