Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
We publish a magazine offering employment, training and education advice for people leaving the Armed Forces
Brief: Employment - Maritime Careers
Number of Words: 1000
We are looking for a piece outlining that the maritime industry is a strong industry sector
to get involved in and that it has many contributory facets where Service-leavers can find
plentiful employment opportunities – covering an array of different skill sets.
………………………………………………………………………………………………
Please include:
Any useful facts about the maritime sector – its scale and economic value
– from (quoted) reputable sources.
Notes on any growth areas/skills shortages within the sector and career options
Ideas on how the acquired skills, qualifications and attributes gained within the
Military environment can be transferred to civilian employment.
Identify three different career options, ideally for three different skill sets, within
the maritime industry. One of these options must be Maritime Security. Outline the roles including entry requirements and pay-scale.
Please Note:
Please use any relevant stats, facts or figures – but make sure that they are
properly sourced.
Write to the reader. Our audience is made up of Service-leavers from the British
Armed Forces – and their families.
Keep it positive. We exist to inspire our readers and empower them with
‘answers and solutions’.
Add any helpful information (at the end of your submission) such as telephone
numbers and web addresses of organisations relevant to the subject you have
written about. (Please no hyperlinks – they do not work in a printed publication.
Use reasonably short web URLs starting with www.)
Our readers will be well aware of general help available to the as Service-leavers
and Veterans. You do not need to add this information.
Add any interesting/related facts, styled to small boxouts.
