Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Num. of words: 1500
Website url: www.expatica.com
Information for the blog/website: news and information website
Industry: Internet/Software
Description of every page: We are looking for an online research writer with a minimum of 2 years’ experience and native-level English. We are an online news and information community that provides advice for expats in Europe on expert topics, such as tax, employment, housing, education and more. Therefore, your writing skills must be clear, concise, accurate and engaging.
Tone: Formal/Professional
Outline & Structure: You will be asked to write well-sourced, high-quality articles based on our guidelines and house style. Other tasks will include updating our existing articles in accordance with new laws or policies, or combing several of our existing guides into one comprehensive article. In short, the assignment involves researching, expanding and/or rewriting content.
Some examples of the type of content you will be asked to write include:
http://www.expatica.com/fr/housing/Renting-a-property-in-France_101131.html
http://www.expatica.com/nl/visas-and-permits/Moving-to-the-Netherlands-Guide-to-Dutch-visas-and-permits_101934.html
All applications must include sample(s) of researched articles relevant to our job offering, your CV and a brief cover letter. Applications without relevant samples will not be considered.
Important criteria in the selection process are education level (minimum bachelor’s degree – please provide information about grade average), research experience, writing skills, accuracy and attention to detail. It is a plus if you are based in the Netherlands but applicants abroad will also be considered. SEO knowledge is an advantage.
Successful applicant:
Suitable applicants will subsequently be asked to take the following test:
Write an updated version on one topic relevant to living abroad / expatriate life in Europe, such as tax, housing, employment, expat life, family life, education, daily practicalities etc. The article you supply will need to be checked for accuracy, updated and/or expanded with relevant content, and edited for clarity. You will be expected to provide a marked-up document with comments and references.
If the test assignment works out well, we will then determine whether you will be our preferred partner for writing/updating 10 articles for our website. This is an on-going position for the right candidate.
Reimbursement will be negotiated based on skills and experience. Willing to spend 150 euros for updating 3 articles of 700-1200 words.
As for planning: we will review beginning of April.
