POSITION: Journalist/Writer
JOB DESCRPTION: We are a professional writing service that provides high quality articles to a number of publications dealing with environmental issues. Recent commissions include topics such as waste to energy, the UK tidal network, solar energy, and renewable power.
REQUIREMENTS: You MUST be able to write journalistically – this means you need to be able to research a topic in-depth, ensuring all information is up to date and accurately sourced. It is essential that details within these articles is reliable. You MUST also be willing to take the initiative to contact the relevant experts to provide interview-based quotes for these articles.
SKILLS REQUIRED: Writing; Researching; Editorial; Initiative; Enthusiasm; Reliability
OPPORTUNITIES: Approximately two 1,000 word articles per month will be available within this area, but opportunities will also be available for other topics you might have expertise in, including pharmaceuticals, health, parenting, psychology, nursing, and more.
PAY: We use a tier system for our writers; the better your work (i.e. the less editing needed), the higher your tier: £14 per thousand words (tier 1), £13 per thousand words (tier 2), £12 per thousand (tier 3), £13 per thousand (tier 0), with a bonus for being on-time and to a high standard (the less time we have to spend getting the work to final draft the bigger the bonus).
APPLICATIONS: Please provide: 1) two samples of previously published work and 2) 400 words on the following: MERiFIC – sustainable wave power for island communities. You will be paid $10 for taking the test, but only those candidates that have fully read and understood the job description will be selected to take the test; this will be assessed by providing an accurate and bespoke application.
