Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 1 - 2 weeks
Information for the blog/website: Websites related to destination weddings and events (one of world's top destinations)
Industry: Lifestyle/Travel
Description of every page: We are final stages of development of several websites -- one is redesign of existing whereas other is new. Both sites relate to destination weddings/events.
As the sites are in the latter part of development along with content writing, we're fine tuning style and layouts so if you have experience, or flair for art direction, this would be considered a bonus.
Writer should be versatile, creative, adaptive and able to take constructive editorial feedback/ direction.
Project starts immediately and could last for up to a month depending on how prolific and productive you are. In an ideal scenario project may result in ongoing work but this will depend on results.
Tone: Informal yet infused with hints of elegance and stylish panache.
Outline & Structure:
Website A: Destination Events
Primarily retooling introductory editorial and related descriptions imparting an authentic voice that is equal parts aspirational and inspired without sounding cliched. Someone with a flair for words and cultivating an experience of a lifetime, here is a representative sample:
"It’s the event of a lifetime, the party of the year, the début of the season, an affair of the heart. It’s about transcending trends, comprehending customs.... It takes a general’s strategy, a diplomat’s negotiation, a concierge’s direction, a confidante’s comfort. It’s serving dinner by moonlight, and crepes at dawn, distinguishing water goblets from wine glasses, encouraging a timid speaker or a tearful ring bearer, and guaranteeing everyone is at the best table......"
Website B: Product Descriptions
A (destination) decor rental business website. The item descriptions should be just that, pithy and descriptive, but with droplets of of playfulness, wanderlust, wit, and self deprecating sense of humour. If you are familiar with the copy style in J. Peterman's irreverent and illuminating catalogues than you're ahead of the rest. Unfortunately there won't be any Siberian bear rugs, rather wine goblets, linen runners, and hurricane lanterns, but each, taken together with other props is worthy of creating Instagram moments.
This site alone will likely take some time given the number of items.
Extra notes:
We're always mindful of the avalanche we trigger whenever we post a job herein with so many applying without taking the time to truly consider whether they can deliver the kind of results we've described.
We will want to see relevant work from previous projects and/or be able to discern details from your written response that you possess the style and skills to successfully write your way to successful conclusion.
So rather than pose a trivial question, or seek relevant work (we still might), take a few moments to write yourself into the picture, something that allows us to hear your distinctive 'voice' and gives us a intuitive feel for what you bring to the project:
