Information for the blog/website: This is a blog for a feminist charity promoting gender equality and healthy relationships free from domestic abuse and sexual violence
Topic: Celebrating 100 years of women's suffrage with women who made change
Tone: Enthusiastic
Outline & Structure: **Needs to be delivered to Equation for review before midday Monday, 5th February for completion by first thing Tuesday, 6th February**
Outline: To celebrate the 6th February 2018 anniversary of it being 100 years since the first women got the right to vote in Britain, a listicle covering 5 British (English/Welsh/Scottish/N Irish) women who the general public might not have heard about, who made big progress in advancing women's rights - in particular, advancing women's safety from gender-based violence/male violence/ domestic and sexual violence.
Structure:
Intro on 6th February, what the anniversary is about
Link paragraph regarding women's greater involvement in the political sphere and political and legal activism to advance women's rights and women's safety
5 women in order: their names, what they did for women's rights - ideally pioneering, path-breaking female lawmakers and politicians who made advances on criminal and civil protection for women against domestic violence, sexual violence etc, (maybe a mixture of well-know and others who people might not have heard of?).
Extensive research needed: no
Extra notes: Equation is a charity working primarily in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire that wants everyone to have equal, healthy relationships, in a society free from domestic abuse, sexual violence and gender inequality. We deliver community education to prevent domestic abuse and sexual violence, promote gender equality and raise aspirations for healthy relationships as well as providing practical tools and guidance to support the well-being and safety needs of survivors.
Domestic abuse is a gendered crime mostly affecting women and rooted in misogyny and gender inequality. The charity therefore takes opportunities to promote and celebrate women and push for greater recognition and representation of women's achievements. We are a feminist charity with feminist values and in recognition of the nature of this article and the cause it is promoting we would welcome a qualified woman/non-binary copy-writer to complete this task.
On our blog we cover lots of different topics to do with domestic abuse, sexual violence and our work. We want to increase the amount of original content on our website on these topics that we publish and this would be our first opportunity to do so.
Our tone of voice is positive, enthusiastic and informative, but not too jokey given the serious and often tragic nature of the cause our charity is involved in.
