Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
I’d need an engaging short story of about 1500 words.
The purpose of the story is to illustrate general conversational routines to non-native speakers of English. Each country has its own conversational norms and ways of speaking. The story should illustrate how average conversations look like in the US – what are common topics for discussion, how typical conversational expressions are used (e.g.: if you see what I mean), how opinions and feelings are communicated, how problems are solved together, conflicts arranged, decisions taken etc.
The story line should grab the attention and keep students suspended.
I’d like this done by Friday 20th of June.
I’d need people with the following skillset:
• native speaker of American English
• an ability to write an imaginative story that grabs the attention of readers
• good writing skills and grammar
• an ability to use idiomatic language
What the story should contain:
• Many different everyday situations where people talk to each other – e.g.: one friend telling about his successes and failures to the other, arguments between people and all those myriad situations where people express their feelings, argue, quarrel, motivate, get to know each other, fall in love etc.
• The story should illustrate to non-native speakers how average conversations look like in the US – what are common topics of discussion, how opinions and feelings are communicated, etc. – the point is to keep it as natural as possible.
• The story should also contain a telephone conversation, illustrating a typical phone conversation in the US.
What kind of texts I’d need:
• They should reflect English as it is used by an average, educated native speaker.
• They should contain a fair amount of figurative language, phrasal verbs, colloquial expressions and idiomatic language as used by educated native speakers in everyday contexts.
• Correct grammar and spelling.
• Most of the story should be made up of dialogues.
Expected communication:
• Consulting on the most important aspects of the story (basic storyline, characters, scenes etc.)
Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.
