Description
Experience Level: Expert
Hello! I'm looking for a writer to help me craft some FAQs for my business website.
I'm the owner of a web development agency that specialises in supporting UK business owners WordPress-based websites.
Specifically I want to work with a native UK English writer to get the content written. Whilst I'm comfortable writing copy, it's something that I procrastinate about. That's why I'd like someone to help me get it done.
Some of the articles will be slightly technical. Anything that's technical I'll explain so that we can include metaphors or definitions when needed.
Target audience is technically 'aware' business owners based in UK, aged between 30 to 55.
[The way I want to work is pretty simple:]
1) We have a zoom call and go through each question that I'd like written. I'd like you to ask me questions to help you work out what to write. I won't be dictating, but I'm sure there will be key phrases you'll be able to pick out of what I say.
2) You go and write the content for the articles that we've agreed (say 3-5 articles at a time). Because we've discussed them, you're able to use language and explanations that I've given.
(I'm NOT expecting you to do research as part of this work unless you want to understand something better).
3) I'll then read your articles, and send any tweaks/feedback to you with a recorded video.
4) Repeat 2/3 as needed (and you're welcome to ask me more questions too).
5) The articles will then go live on the website.
Doing it this way simply helps me to get my content out of my head!
[FAQs that are on my list that need writing:]
- Do we use site builders like WP Bakery, Divi, BeaverBuilder, Elementor?
- What's our warranty?
- Is the Updraft plugin recommended for doing WordPress backups?
- How much do we charge? (kw price, pricing)
- What WordPress plugins are known to cause problems with loading speed?
- What is a CDN?
- Do you support business owners with existing websites?
- Do I need a new website?
- Do I really need SSL for my website?
- How quickly should my website be loading?
- Why is my website loading slowly?
- Where do I get ideas for creating my own FAQ?
- What's the difference between a web developer v.s. a web designer?
- Is SEO worth it?
[Other bits]
- There will be more FAQs over time. If we both like working with each other, then there's lots more ongoing work.
- I'm not fixated on how many words are written for each article. It's about explaining things properly. Some articles will be short. Some will be long and detailed.
- Calls can be scheduled in the morning or in the evening (but not afternoons when I do project work).
[How to apply]
- If you have any articles that you've written that are slightly technical in nature, please send me 2 or 3 to read.
- Please tell me how many articles you'd like to tackle for the budget specified in this project (and how long you'd expect it to take). I've set the budget for this project to allow me to test a number of articles.
- If you have the capability to upload articles to WordPress, cross-link with other content, and other WordPress-type skills, please let me know.
- Please also tell me about your ongoing rate
- Please tell me anything else about yourself that you think will be relevant.
- Please tell me if you offer article editing services too.
