Web-based system for Lost Property/Found Property

Lost and Found Property system – Design Brief

Simple to user interface, can provide screenshots for existing system we have.

UPDATE- I will leave this up for at least a day to get the full amount of proposals sent through. I am negotiable on the cost if you need but I thought the amount was fair for the service offered. I will reject your proposal if you send it to me and quote 10x the amount I put up.

I have a server and you can use that or you can develop on your own and then give me the source code.

Has to be easy to use for very basic operators/staff. Could have potential to have a very large database.

Must run on Ubuntu Linux.

Ideally PHP/mySQL - must be able to be zipped and sent to me to upload, must work in Chrome/IE/Firefox etc.

Lightweight - ideally running PHP/mySQL as I already have online hosting - can provide this but would prefer you develop on own system and then I can deploy to ours.

Key functionality
- Add / remove lost property item
- Unique Item number
- Delete property item (after time period or has been found)
- Public interface to submit ‘lost property item’
- Cataloguing of items found on site
- Login to main system to add/remove/delete items
- Photo upload functionality is a huge plus (of lost/found items)
- Age of item in system – eg ‘This has been in the Lost Property Database for 3 weeks’

Interface design
Adding “Found” property (that has been turned in)
- Add item / type /make / model / colour / serial / location it was found – ideally each one of these is a separate field but none are mandatory
- Free text field for more other descriptive information
- Unique item number
- Searchable based on keywords – not required but would be a big plus
- Date found / Date turned in
- Photo upload, ideally automatically makes a small thumbnail for ease of use for browsing

Reported Lost Page
- Designed for general public/visitors– simple webform to report make/model/type/colour/variety/description/location where it was lost – is submitted to the system to a screen under ‘Items reported lost’
- Needs contact details – name number email date + unique ID

Reporting functionality
- General reports – items lost per month / items recovered per month

Other notes
System will have one main page – it is a form to report lost property, at the top of the page there will be a login link with username/password which will take you to the admin side of things – this admin side you can add/remove/delete/edit/change/upload photos etc all to do with lost property – this system is designed to be used by a maximum of 3 staff.
