Description
Experience Level: Entry
Horror / Mystery YouTube Video Editor
I run a growing YouTube channel focused on disturbing stories, internet mysteries, rabbit holes, unexplained events, and unsettling corners of the internet.
The style is inspired by creators like Nexpo, Nick Crowley, Farrell McGuire, Lazy Masquerade, and ScareTheater. I’m looking for an editor who can create atmospheric, high-quality, immersive videos in this niche.
What I Need
I will handle the story research and final narration myself.
Once I have the story and record the narration, I will send everything to you. Your job will be to turn it into a complete, polished YouTube video.
This includes:
Finding suitable b-roll, images, videos, screenshots, and other visual assets
Generating assets with AI when appropriate
Creating or sourcing visuals that fit the story and atmosphere
Editing the narration and visuals together
Adding subtle motion, effects, transitions, text, and visual layering
Using appropriate background music and sound effects
Creating a dark, cinematic, unsettling atmosphere
Maintaining good pacing and visual variety without over-editing
I’m looking for story-driven editing, where the visuals support the narration rather than distract from it.
The final result should feel polished, immersive, and professional.
Editing Style
I’m not looking for flashy editing or constant effects.
I want something atmospheric, cinematic, mysterious, and occasionally unsettling. Think of the visual storytelling and pacing used by channels such as Nexpo, Nick Crowley, Farrell McGuire, Lazy Masquerade, and ScareTheater, while still allowing you to develop your own style.
You can use any editing software you prefer. The important thing is the final result, not the program you use.
You should have access to a capable laptop or computer suitable for video editing.
AI Use
I have no problem with AI being used as part of your workflow, including for generating visuals, provided it is used creatively and appropriately.
AI should be a tool to improve the production, not a replacement for creativity and editing skills.
Compensation & Long-Term Opportunity
The channel is currently not monetized, and I’m funding the project myself.
For now, the payment is $10 per completed video.
My goal is to monetize the channel and turn this into a permanent position. Once the channel starts generating revenue, I intend to increase the compensation accordingly.
I’m looking for someone who wants to grow with the channel rather than someone interested in a one-off project.
If you enjoy creating dark, atmospheric videos and want to grow alongside a YouTube channel from its early stages, I’d love to hear from you.
More details about the workflow and collaboration can be discussed privately or on a call.

What is the typical expected duration of each completed video? This would help me better understand the editing scope and workflow.
