Description
They say that the kitchen is the heart of a home, but does that still hold true today? With this
project we're aiming to uncover how cooking and eating habits differ from country to country,
and if they've changed over time.
We are ideally looking for people to complete this task living in:
India, Hawaii, Brazil, China, Mongolia, Pakistan, Nigeria, Iraq, Peru, USA, UK, Iceland, New
Zealand, Russia, Germany, Egypt, Greenland, Italy, The Netherland, Bulgaria and the Philippines.
We require the following:
● One photo of where you cook or prepare food.
● One photo of where you eat in your home.
● A written summary explaining what cooking and eating means to you, now, and when
you were growing up (see example summary). You also need to reply to ALL questions
below.
This will total to two images altogether.
PS: If you dine and cook in the same place, please take pictures of the same place at two
different angles.
General Information required:
● Please provide us with your first name, your age, and where you live.
● Please highlightwhichever best describes your living situation:
o I live alone
o I live with housemates / flatmates
o I live with my partner
o I live with my partner and children
o I live with my children
o I live with other family members (e.g. aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins)
Please tell us a little about your cooking and eating habits:
1. How frequently do you cook or prepare food at home?
2. Do you like to cook? If so, what sorts of things do you like to cook?
3. Do you think your culture and/or nationality influences what you cook and where you
eat, and why?
4. Where do you typically eat at home? I.e at the table, in living room/in front of TV etc
5. Who do you eat with, do you eat alone or with others? And which do you prefer and
why?
6. How do you feel about mealtimes? Have your feelings changed over time?
7. Have you had different kitchens growing up? Which was your favourite and why?
8. Who cooked for you when you were little? And what’s your favourite memory from that
time?
9. What was the first dish you learnt to cook?
10. Who taught you to cook?
11. What’s the most memorable moment that happened in your kitchen?
12. If you have children, what traditions if any, do you want to pass on to them, and why?
13. What would your dream kitchen look like, and why?
14. How does your kitchen make you feel? Is it a space you like spending time in?
15. How does where you eat make you feel? Is it a space that you love, or do you wish you
could be somewhere else?
16. Is there anything you’d like to change about your cooking or meal times? Would you do
anything differently?
Example answer:
I love to cook and being Brazilian, eating together with family and friends was always important for
me as a child and still is today. It’s definitely a cultural thing to gather and spend together over
homemade food! Now as an adult, I can say that I’ve learnt so much from my family when it comes
to cooking, especially my grandma and my mum. Whether it was an easy dish like carrot rice or
something crazy like a birthday banana cake, I have the best memories of growing up surrounded by
family members that had a passion for cooking.
Photography Regulations:
● Minimum size of 5MP and at least 2000px wide.
● 150dpi.
● Landscape.
● The pictures have to be clear, bright and well-focused.
● Vivid colours, please avoid very bright lighting, work with the light so the picture
looks well-lit but doesn't burn the images.
The focus of this project is on your surroundings, however photos including people will also be
considered.
The images you provide must be your own, and in accepting payment for these images you
agree to grant a full assignment of IP rights.

AlmaLouise D.25 Jul 2016This is great news - it would be fantastic to have the photos tomorrow if at all possible?
They would be a displayed in a campaign for my client alongside others. We would like to have the rights for the photos and will be sending an agreement document with anyone who is included in the campaign.
It would be really nice to have people preparing/eat the food.
Well only be working with those who deliver pictures of the quality we need so would you be able to send me your photos and if we can include them in the campaign we can let you know and then you can answer the questions?
Let me know if that works for you?
Many thanks
