i have a sony hi8 camcorder and want to connect it to the computer to transfer video and then burn to dvds. the connection will be svideo cable (on camcorder) to hdmi (on pc) via a video converter s-video to hdmi. i have installed free video capture software (debut video capture). The problem is the pc does not recognize the hdmi cable. The pc is an hp all in one pavilion 23-q150na new machine.

    Hello - Where are you based? If dvd's are the end format, it might be easier for you to work backwards: i.e. transfer via S-video, straight to a dvd recorder in highest quality...then import the dvd's into your computer for editing/re-authoring.

    PCs generally doesn't have HMDI inputs, only HDMI output. You need to use something else, maybe Firewire or one of the Pinnacle boxes..
