Assistant Editor Brief — Wedding Archive Selects

This is a personal documentary project using footage from my own wedding.

The material consists of two MP4 files, which I’ll send via WeTransfer:
• Tape 01: 34:17
• Tape 02: 56:21

The footage is rough, handheld, unscripted, and has no dialogue spine or planned coverage.

Your role

Support as an assistant editor, creating broad and fine selects in Adobe Premiere Pro.

This is an organisational and observational pass — not storytelling.

What I need

1. Broad selects (scenes)
• Watch both tapes in full
• Create LONG / BROAD SELECTS grouped by subject or activity (e.g. wedding car, arrivals, buffet, mingling, interior/exterior, speeches)
• Keep selects generous and context intact

2. Fine selects (moments)
• Pull small, self-contained moments from within the broad selects (reactions, movement, glances, background action)
• Short, focused clips
• No judgment about importance — just extraction

Important boundaries

Please do not:
• Shape a narrative or story
• Choose “best” moments
• Make emotional or editorial decisions
• Apply stylistic edits, music, or effects

If something stands out, flag it, but don’t decide its value.

Working method
• Work in Adobe Premiere Pro
• Follow the provided bin structure and naming conventions
• Keep broad selects and fine selects in separate bins
• Work in a separate project file or version
• Label anything uncertain as CHECK_ME

I need to be able to import your selects cleanly back into my main Premiere project.
