Software IDE: Visual Paradigm UML, (The software can be provided, also there is free community version on the web)
Task: Lift Control System (UML)
Description: Design a control system for a lift (elevator) system within a building. Assume 1 lift shaft operating over four floors. Only consider the user/passenger interaction with the system. Do not include service engineers, cleaners, security systems etc.
+ The lift car has request button for each floor, open and close door buttons, a current floor indicator and up and down direction indicators and a pair of doors.
+ Each floor has up and/or down call button, up and down direction indicators and a pair of doors.
+ Each pair of doors has a sensor to detect an obstruction and current floor indicator.
+ Do not model the drive system or scheduler in detail.
Deliverables:
+ Use Case (Also a description of the diagram)
+ Class Diagram (Also a description of the diagram functionality (component i.e. floor select, button))
+ Sequence Diagram (Also a description of the diagram functionality), Three examples of operation i.e call for lift, etc.
+ Communication Diagram (Also a description of the diagram functionality), Two examples of operation.
+ State Diagram (Also a description of the diagram functionality), Two examples of operation.
+ Activity Diagram (Also a description of the diagram functionality), Two examples of operation.
Also include a short report describing how the system is intended to function, the approach taken for your design and any improvement you propose.

Note: In the report structure include Abstract, Introduction, Overview of the system, Functionality, All the diagram description, functionality, etc, Proposed improvement, Evaluation, Appendices.
