I have a custom plugin, which allows users to message each other through my Wordpress website, sending notifications to the users personal email address when they have a new message...
The plugin works using a pop3 email account in the format firstname_surname@domain.com, which should exactly match the firstname and surname fields in Wordpress.
I am looking for a way to simplify the process for adding the email addresses needed to power the plugin:
- set up a cron job to pick up when a new user is added and set up the following email addresses:
1. for users with the "parent" role, a pop account (with a password which is common to accounts) - firstname_surname@domain.com
2. for users with the "pupil" role, a forwarder (firstname_surname@domain.com) to the email address entered into the "parent email address" custom field.
Ideally, I would like the ability for the cron job to set up pop accounts / forwarders on a domain other than the one the site is atas some of my potential client will have domains where the MX records are setup for MS Exchange or Google Apps.
There is a plugin already installed (http://wpplugins.com/plugin/963/cpanel-wordpress-integration) which allows the to add pop3 accounts from Wordpress...... I wonder if this be developed a little to give the functionality outlined above?
If possible, it would be good if this plugin could be edited to allow management of the pop3 accounts from within Wordpress admin panel (add new address, delete addresses, edit mailbox quota).
