Wanted talented backend web developers!

General information for the website: High-traffic user content site
Description of requirements/features: We are looking for talented, detail-oriented backend programmers who are ready for challenging jobs. You must be able to deliver top-notch results in terms of speed and scale for a website under development using Python/web.py and Postgres.

We would like you to do a small test job to let us evaluate your skills. You have to create a web.py project with a single page displaying a set of dots. Please refer to the attached graphic file. (This is for reference only, it does not have to be exactly like the graphic. Just do some basic html/css to show a line of dots.) Each dot corresponds to one item in the attached xml file. The gap between the dots will correspond to the "duration" field. Ignore the sub-level items. So the backend work involves parsing the xml file and creating the html for the dots.

Secondly, each dot will accept clicks, which will update a Postgres database in real time (i.e., no page refresh). The data stored will be dots clicked, number of times, duration between clicks, etc. You have to figure out the most efficient method of storing the data and inserting/updating records. It has to be coded to be able to take care of hundreds of simultaneous users.

This is a test project to evaluate your abilities, in terms of overall coding efficiency, attention to detail and knowledge of best practices.

You may quote a fixed rate for each part of the project (preferred) or give an hourly rate with estimated time required. The budget given below is a very rough estimate.
