INLINE SHUFFLEBOARD PROJECT
I have a papervision3d v1.7 computer and multiplayer shuffleboard game created in Flash 9/CS3 on a Smartfoxpro 1.6.2 server.
It has been my good fortune that John Dalziel, co-founder of FlashMagazine.com, was kind enough to comp me a decompilation of my
game SWF with Eltima Trillix SWF Decompiler and Eltima support.
I need the assests recovered (path errors, layer names, fonts, etc ) so the game will be editable and compile properly.
Upgrades and modifications also needed. Read the John D Trillix review for tips.
The game (tex folder [contains most game images - others generated on the fly] - must be in the same file as the game.swf ), source files in Archive.zip
(gridTest.swf.fla, gridTest.swf.flp, gridTest.swf_as folder - WinOS & _MACOSX) and project (developer text, new game room and Orbitz image plus
PV3d decompiling results tips link) are located in ISBP2.zip on
http://www.isbtour.com/developers.htm. Click link.
Game Platform
Server:
VPS on bodhost.com
Linux - CentOS 4.x or 5.x
cPanel ( WHM ) with Fantastico Deluxe
PHP4 - MySql
Programs:
Game server: Smartfoxpro 1.6.2 - http://www.smartfoxserver.com
MyGamingLadder.com combo (ladder/tournaments) modified for auto-scoring/stats (no reporting or rules).
Amember.com, a subscription management program that facilitates one-click login and custom plugins for all legal payment systems
and other programs we require.
Games:
The \"Play Bot\" in the ladder is the junk computer game. The \"Game lobby\" is a vanilla Smartfoxpro with only player connections to the only active game ladder (game room) ISB Tour and the junk multiplayer game.
Animated graphic to be replaced with SFP chat lobby with ladder room menu.
Note: I can provide assistance from the programmer who set this up if he is available. His speciality is PHP & MySql.
Upgrades:
A, Upgrade the server to SFSPRO_linux_1.6.6.tar.gz, apply the SFSPRO_Patch_1.6.9.zip and install the Blue Box 1.05
update then compile the revised game. Files on site.
You need to register so you can see the process and access the gaming ladder.
B. Smartfoxpro 1.6.2 is currently connected to a junk game to test the backend.
Replace the junk game with the revised multiplayer version.
Note: The path to the multiplayer junk game is to an old IP and needs changing.
The Game
This is a very simple game: Pull shooter with left mouse button for power then aim using the game board logo for distance and aiming reference points and release mouse button to shoot. No angle shots.
Changes required:
1. Install one picture game room (Inline Shuffleboard) template. It has a main background
image, a 3d platform model with an overlaid sign/scoreboard and game board images. 3d shooter and puck models created in SketchupPro7.
I can export the new *.skp models to you in most popular formats, 3ds, dae, kmz, etc.
The game photos/graphics/game board need to be located in the tex folder so some new picture game rooms can be completely installed simply by replacing the graphics using a static 3d platform like the one I want installed.
2. The spinning camera on the intro needs to be disabled as this type of game room does not have 4 walls. However it will be useful later for full custom game rooms.
3. To play one must click the screen to focus and then press the spacebar to start play.
Eliminate the click screen to focus or space bar on the menu screen for one click action.
4. The space bar text color is too dark. Change the font color to #FFFFFF or better choice.
5. Add - In the computer game the player always shoots first in every game. The computer needs to alternate shooting first in new games.
6. The game puck collision is sluggish requiring way too much power to score the longest shot (10 Off). A sitting puck when struck reacts as if it weights a ton. Tweak the shot action for more puck interaction and freer game play. Delay the camera zoom one second or less as it moves to quickly and flies over a shot puck then let the zoom linger for 2 seconds before release.
Here is a playable example of the shot action and delayed camera zoom necessary. See the attached screen capture for a game winning shot (a four puck combo that scores 3 pucks).
This kind of play action on my simplified inline platform will make for great multiplayer games as once the shots are learned it is all strategy. http://www.orbitzgames.com/arcade_shuffle.aspx
7. The computer game has the birds eye angle too steep. I have lowered the angle of the game board view to make it appear to be longer and the zoom more significant plus it's in more of a FPS position.
If this changes the scoring registration or creates a problem we will stay with the original and lower the camera a little.
8. There are 2 sounds associated with the 20 second shot clock that are not activated. One is a warning beep at 5 seconds before time is up and a buzzer indicating lose of shot if the player fails to shoot within the 20 seconds. The sounds, sound9.mp3 (beep)and sound8.mp3 (buzzer) required are located in the game resources sound folder. Class files are
BeepSound.as & BuzzSound.as.
9. ADD - If a player fails to shoot within the 20 second shot clock time limit a 2nd time in the same game. The game is over and they lose. Applies to both computer/multiplayer games.
To see/play the computer game click \"Beat the Bot\" on the index page.
The flash intro will be replaced with a menu screen.
As of now the menu will have only \"Play Now\" and \"How to Win\" plus the \"ISBTour.com\" where it is applicable, links.
The company or individual who successfully completes this project will be my freelance lead flash programmer if so desired.
This position will handle on a contract-by-contract basis all future flash projects and all of my current game and site development needs.
Skills required: Advanced AS3, PV3D api, 3d Modeling & entry level SmartFoxPro 1.6.9 server (Very user friendly, easy to learn, well documented,
examples, feature rich...)
Milestones: To be agreed upon
Budget: 300 GBP
Payment: All funds will be escrowed. Pay for deliverables.
Time frame: 30 days
Legal: This is a \"work for hire\" project under US copyright law category \"to recover and edit assets of a part of an audio/visual work\".
All intellectual property conveys including all source code (*.fla & resources) to be delivered on milestones.
NO boiler plate (unless relative), unqualified or outsource dreamer bids or inquiries - PLEASE.
