Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
ello, my name is Steve McClintic, and I own and operate a magazine publishing business in Virginia named OurHealth (www.ourhealthvirginia.com). I publish four versions of OurHealth in four separate markets in Virginia, with each edition consisting of six issues annually (published every other month). The mission of OurHealth is "Bringing Healthcare Close to Home", meaning that every topic in each edition aims to not only educate readers on a health topic, but also connect them with the local resources available that they can conveniently access. For example: if we do an article about heart disease, we interview local medical experts, discuss local medical organizations' services, procedures and products, include patient perspective from local people in the community, etc.
Earlier this year, I engaged a company named MetroPublisher, which specializes in websites for the magazine publishing industry that are built on their proprietary content management system. It's the first content management system I've worked in, so I can't say whether it's anything like a Wordpress or Joomla one. It's easy enough to load an article and images to the site, but there are all of these other things you have to take into consideration, like the tags, the advertising management system, sprockets, etc. Of course, on the content side itself, you have to make sure it's optimized for the web, include the meta descriptions, manage and improve the SEO, etc.
Long and short is:
1) I need a point person who can manage the ins and outs of my content management system and knows exactly what they are doing when loading the content.
2) Make sure all content and images from the most recent editions are formatted and loaded to the site so we can build up an inventory of content.
3) Make sure our calendar of events are populated with quality information.
4) Format and load our "Best of" content as directories onto the site.
5) Organize and develop monthly e-newsletters to deploy.
6) Make sure our social media channels have ongoing posts made.
7) And many other things I am sure I am missing!
I hope I haven't made what I am looking for clear as mud, but not being a digital expert, I can't explain exactly what I would need from all aspects of a digital strategy.
Would you be interested in talking with me further?
I look forward to hearing from you!
Steve
