Joomla Beez template modification

I am using the Beez template for a school website, and I have been trying to solve a problem for two days now. I have very limited knowledge of Joomla. On the 'about us' page I have shown the latest update module twice. on the left it takes on the style of the main menu, I want it in this left position but want it to look like the latest update module on the right.
I just cannot see why it makes all the links like the main menu. (website details to be given to the successful bidder)
