Description

the brief:>
our current website doctorcarparts co uk is having a complete structural rebuild.
the current/old site has loads of pages (100's of thousands).
There is not much to lose in terms of sales nor do we think there's much to lose in terms of traffic.
our homepage is likely our most visited page and these are mainly curious ebayers looking for our contact details, or wanting to buy direct.
There is some google analytics installed but we don'treally understand it.
With the help of our own developer, we have now built our new website. (it's currently live on the server ip address).
it is a fully bespoke build.
the new website has NOT really been built for google and our focus is only user experience. we have built it also as a catalogue for our own staff to use when serving customers in our shop and on the phone.
we expect most of our traffic will come direct. we are prominent on ebay, and hope to be able to direct market to around 200 new customers a day. once i'm completely happy with the site, we have a large database of existing customers who we will email.
Because it is a car parts site (with many thousands of products and lots of api connections), there is alot of dynamic content, although we have made the 'product_detail' pages static.
there is no possibility of trying to match old urls to new.
all the old pages will probably need to redirect to the new homepage.
also, we want to change the site the current .co.uk to .com (we own both domains).
the job:>
go into analytics and get an idea of the current state of affairs.
make the plan of the move.
implement the move including all the redirects and properly setup all the stuff on webmaster tools.
liase with my developer to properly setup the google shopping products feed.
