Help needed to improve slow WordPress website

I have created a small website in WordPress (approx 15 pages using the Woothemes theme Kaboodle) and it is now almost complete. However, it is running very slowly. I have used an app called 'YSlow' to try work out why and this has advised that I need to do the following:

1. Use a Content Delivery Network
2. Add Expires headers
3. Compress components with gzip
4. Put JavaScript at bottom

Unfortunately, I don't have the knowledge to do these things and am therefore looking for a web developer with good WordPress knowledge who can help. In addition, you may be able to suggest other reasons why the website is running so slowly.

I also need help tweaking the background of the website as it is meant to be white but in some browsers is displaying with a hashed pattern.

Finally, any advice about the best way to back-up my WordPress site would be great.

I'm not sure how long the above would take a WordPress developer so I hope my bid range is in the right ball-park. Any questions, just ask.
