Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
As part of an asset library we are looking to develop a Flash module that can be integrated into a website to manage the user’s file downloads. The user will be able to search the file library and then have the option to download one or more files from a Content Delivery Network where that media is stored, catalogued by a unique ID.
The Flash module will retrieve the file name and author information from a SQL db before requesting the file from the CDN, and will download and rename the file on-the-fly before saving as <author name>-<more info>-<file id>.xxx, instead of the CDN stored filename which is of the format <file id>.xxx.
The tool also needs to be able to manage the download of multiple files, while only prompting the user for a single download. This can be via the creation of a file/folder on the users’ local system into which multiple files are downloaded, possibly with nested folders that reference the name of the picklist. If possible this download location should be maintained so that the user does not have to re-select the path for each download prompt. There should be some indicator of progress when multiple files are being downloaded, and a means of cancelling the process.
Each download request will be written to the database download audit log tables for future querying. This will include the user id, track id, etc and whether the download occurred as part of a batch.
A key requirement for this tool is that it not be dependent on the user having any components (Adobe AIR, etc) installed on their system as users may be in a corporate environment where this is not possible.
This tool must be compatible with Flash version 9 and greater.
