I moved my websites to a new dedicated server to save some money recently but since moving I'm having a few problems and having to pay people to fix them, so I probably won't save money for a while. Anyway, I'll try not moan.
I need to get the following thing which were working on the old server, working on the new server:
- This page http://gamenmatch.com/useradded.php (which the developers tell me isn't working because cURL on my server is outdated).
- Akismet Wordpress Plug-in (it says "A network problem or firewall is blocking all connections from your web server to Akismet.com", the host company say they aren't blocking anything).
- Apparently a bruteforce attack is causing my CPU usage for a process to go over 15% which is causing pages to load very slowly at times. I'm told "the server is making approximately 80,000 DNS connections per minute, all which are being refused".
If you're able to fix these types of things, please let me know your price and when you'll be able to get it done by (bonus points for saying stuff that makes it sound like you know what you're talking about).
If you'd like more details, here's what my hosting company has told me:
From the looks of it, PHP is going to have to be recompiled in order for it to support this newer version of cURL as Plesk's PHP does not use native curl; in other words curl is precompiled into the PHP core. Unfortunately, this is something our scope of support does not handle as Plesk, PHP and
cURL are all functioning correctly but... not with your 3rd-party script which we cannot support either. I highly suggest looking into a server management company that can handle this AND take care of all of your DNS issues and brute force attacks you are facing.
The wordpress anti comment spam plug-in Akismet isn't working on this server. Here's what the my host company told me:
Everything is open on our end and we're not blocking anything/filtering anything inbound or outbound on your server... it looks like you'll need to contact Akismet support and tell them their network engineers need to see what's preventing you from accessing their servers.
