Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: less than 1 week
General information for the business: IT
Description of requirements/functionality: I need a windows power shell script . The requirement
1) Read a filelist file in a windows powershell script. This file would filelist.dat. This file will have path of the file to be copied , then a delimiter and the filename.
Example ( Path of file|filename ) please note in the example the delimiter is “pipe”
E:/group/EMEA|details.txt
C:/US/acre|stores.csv
D:/Singapore|ledger.dat
2) The files to be coped will have spaces, quotes, european and latin american character sets and all possible special chars like #,@,&,%. So in the pwoershell script you need to escape characters like [,* etc
3) This script will have to take 3 parameters (i.e arguments) as inputs. This is not to be prompted to the user. This script would be executed as
Copyfile.ps1
They arguments are
a) Path/filename of the filelist.dat file as first parameter (e.x D:\sources\filelist.dat)
b) destination path as second parameter (ex. E:\copiedfiles). This is where the file read from the filelist.dat is to be copied
c) Log file name. This has to accept the path and the logfile name
Once read, start a log file in the same path as to where the filelist.dat file is read and loop through and do a ROBOCOPY.
Capture the failure using the ROBOCOPY return code.
Any failures should be logged in the log file. (D:\sources\file-copy.log) with the reason for failure and the filename that was not copied.
When loop completes write out a summary (count) of Total Files copied and Total Files errored in the log file.
Please bear in mind that upto 500000 files could be copied hence it has to be performant.
Extra notes: I would need a working copy of the script within 5 days of accepting the Job. Please bid only if you can deliver the job within 5 days . I am happy to test and come back if there are bugs .
