VoIP Dialing from Excel spreadsheet - Hyperlink help

Description of requirements/functionality: I need help creating a method that will allow a user to 'click to dial' from an Excel spreadsheet. This will work with a VoIP phone system under my control and I think can be done via two methods.

Method 1
Each user will have softphone dialler installed on their desktop (this already comes with the phone system, 3CX model). This allows full CTI, so Excel needs to integrate with this in the outbound direction.

Method2
The VoIP handsets have the ability to dial numbers using html, example string below;
http://192.168.0.1/command.htm?number=12345678&outgoing_uri=123@domain1 will dial 1234. In order to place a call from a specific outgoing line (SIP account, identity) attach "&outgoing_uri=user@domain1"


Forums advise this can be done via VBA Macros within Excel, but this is way beyond my ability.
