I require assistance from an engineer who is familiar with LabVIEW Software. Our team is trying to measure amplitude in rat whisker movement in a single plane using a Metralight RX Micrometer (I have attached the data sheet) connected to a National Instruments cDAQ. I have already worked with an engineer from NI to create an initial state diagram, but it is not getting meaningful readings for my purposes, and actually I'm not very sure how to manipulate the variables since the engineer practically built it himself. I will show you what I have (I am using 2020 LabVIEW, but I saved it in 2019), and I will also show you what papers this research methodology is based on (attached Bermejo 1998 and Mendez 2016). I am able to get waveforms from the micrometer on LabVIEW, but I need to be able to see the amplitude of the whiskers in degrees of retraction/protraction. The laser set-up is a 28 mm linear array of 4000 charge-coupled devices (CCD scanline). There is an emitter and a detector placed vertically and a single rat whisker, which is covered in a 1.5 mm filament) is in between them. Movement is detected within the laser curtain which sends the digital signal to LabVIEW at a sampling rate of 1 kHz. Currently I am generating values between 0 and around 7400 when I oscillate an object between the laser. The typical range of whisking activity for rats is approximately 30 degrees. I think I am very close to a solution on this project, but as I am unfamiliar with labVIEW and I do not have an engineering background, I need to consult an expert for an answer to this problem to properly set-up the state diagram, and modify it so that I can read amplitude instead of whatever values are being presented now. Kindly specify that what's the actual problem you're facing here? plus If it's just with the amp graph then we can use another file in Proteus8 and embed it to your system to get a digital signal amp measured. What do you suggest?
