Description
Experience Level: Expert
About the Role
Rather Labs is looking for a Blockchain Engineer to join our engineering team and help design, build, and deploy production-grade blockchain solutions across multiple ecosystems, including EVM chains, Solana, MultiversX, NEAR, Stellar, and other emerging networks.
In this role, you will work on end-to-end blockchain development, from architecture and chain selection to smart contract implementation, integration testing, deployment, and monitoring. You will contribute to DeFi protocols, NFT and RWA systems, cross-chain infrastructure, and other Web3 products that require strong technical judgment, security awareness, and scalable architecture.
We are looking for an engineer who can think beyond writing smart contracts and contribute to the full lifecycle of blockchain product development.
Responsibilities
• Design and develop blockchain-based applications across EVM and non-EVM ecosystems
• Participate in architecture planning and chain selection based on product requirements, gas costs, scalability, security, and ecosystem maturity
• Write secure, efficient, and maintainable smart contracts
• Build and maintain test suites, integration tests, and deployment scripts
• Work on DeFi protocols, including AMMs, lending markets, yield vaults, and cross-chain liquidity systems
• Develop NFT, RWA, tokenization, minting, royalty, and on-chain metadata systems
• Contribute to cross-chain bridges, interoperability solutions, and message-passing protocols
• Integrate blockchain applications with wallets, indexers, oracles, frontends, and off-chain services
• Conduct internal security reviews, including static analysis, manual review, fuzz testing, and edge-case testing
• Support staged deployments from testnet to staging and mainnet
• Set up monitoring, upgrade mechanisms, and post-deployment support
• Document architecture decisions, technical trade-offs, implementation details, and security considerations
Requirements
• Strong experience in blockchain development and smart contract engineering
• Hands-on experience with Solidity and EVM-based development
• Experience with Rust and/or non-EVM ecosystems such as Solana, MultiversX, NEAR, or Stellar
• Proficiency with TypeScript
• Experience with tools such as Foundry, Hardhat, Anchor, and OpenZeppelin
• Understanding of blockchain architecture, transaction lifecycle, gas optimization, and contract upgrade patterns
• Experience writing automated tests and integration tests for blockchain applications
• Strong understanding of smart contract security, common vulnerabilities, and economic attack vectors
• Ability to evaluate trade-offs between on-chain and off-chain components
• Familiarity with oracles, indexers, wallets, and decentralized storage
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in complex technical environments
Nice to Have
• Experience with Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, Polygon, Solana, MultiversX, NEAR, Stellar, or Linera
• Experience with Chainlink, Pyth, The Graph, IPFS, Wagmi, or Viem
• Previous experience building DeFi protocols, bridges, NFT platforms, RWA products, or cross-chain infrastructure
• Experience with architecture decision records and technical documentation
• Knowledge of tokenomics, protocol economics, liquidity systems, and governance models
• Experience with production deployments and blockchain monitoring tools
• Familiarity with audit preparation and security review processes
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a blockchain engineer who can approach product development from both an engineering and architectural perspective. The ideal candidate understands how to design secure, scalable, and production-ready blockchain systems while making practical decisions about chain selection, contract architecture, integrations, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
