Overview
We are a hosting company who are looking to migrate towards a Hyper-V environment. Our clients require a very simple control panel interface that needs to be integrated into our billing platform, which is PHP based.
We have made the decision to leverage the abilities and functionality of System Center Virtual Machine Manager, and require an adaption API written that can be accessed via PHP.
We are open to suggestions, but see this comprising of an .NET webservice that supports the functions required to talk to SC VMM via PowerShell / Commandlets. This Web Service can then be called from PHP using traditional means.
We have in place a Hyper-V server and SC VMM that can be used for developing against and testing. There are a number of toolkits for achieving this such as the Dynamic Data Center Toolkit http://archive.msdn.microsoft.com/ddc that provide some easy to hook into functions for creating the above.
Any solution must support all “Must Have” requirements, and as many “Desirable” components as possible.
Must Have
• Configure Resources of VM to be Built (Quantity of CPU’s, RAM, Disk Space, Network Speed)
• Build VM from Template on SCVMM Server
• Report IP address that’s assigned to newly built VM
• Report Identifier of VM that’s been built for running future commands against
• Reboot VM
• Suspend VM
• Destroy VM
Desirable
• ActiveX Control to connect to VM at Hypervisor Level
• Thumbnail Image of VM Screen
• Access to create and restore snapshot backups
