Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
My company is a US based company that provides database software to county and state governments that help them manage their elections process. We don't do anything with voting equipment, rather we keep track of and help our customers register voters.
As you might be aware, we've got a busy year coming up here in the US elections-wise. :)
I head up our sales and customer departments and our development staff is so busy that I can't throw anything else on their heap. As such I am trying to get a project completed without having to involve our development manager or his staff at all.
I do have a customer that has a requirement that we can't exactly meet with our existing installed application. It should be a pretty simple and straightforward project of taking data from three different FoxPro files (basically names, addresses, office titles, etc.) and creating a report from that data (all the data is in the three files, it just needs to be linked and formatted into a report). These names are elected officials in a small jurisdiction (~500 names in all). The actual data is all resident in our application (which is written in Visual FoxPro 9) and we don't want to reengineer or change how our customers keep that data, rather I want a process that can be used to take that data and report on it in a better fashion than is natively in our application. This process would need to be something that I can end up giving my customer to do as it would need to be run once a month or so. I don't have a great idea, but I'm guessing this is about a 20 hour project.
I am really hoping I can find a resource to do a couple things:
1. Work on this particular small project and, based on a successful outcome, 2. Do additional work for us either as a collaborator on our TEAM or for other special projects.
Unfortunately, I have a very short window to get this work done (1 to 2 weeks).
