Description
Experience Level: Entry
Estimated project duration: 1 - 2 weeks
My requirement is simple, in the link below you will see a simple HTML web from with one text entry field and a submit button. When the user types a number into that field and clicks "print", I need that number to be printed onto a label in the form of a bar code.
https://warehouse.apexfba.com/inventory/print
The script on the web page must be PHP but if your solution is to develop a desktop app (print server or print connect app) then you can use whatever language you like. While I permit you to use some libraries and open source script, anything you develop must be your own code and compiled by you.
The printer is a Dymo Label Writer 450 and for the purpose of this project, the printer will be loaded with 57mm x 32 mm labels (label type: 11354 57).
After clicking "print" the label must print without any further interaction from the user, no pop-up or print dialogue. The text entry field will be cleared of any number typed into it and the cursor will remain in the text entry field so to allow the user to enter the next number straight away. Printing must be completely automatic, the printer must produce the label within a second after clicking "print". This must be done without manually changing any of the browser's settings. The browser must still produce a print dialogue if the user wants to print something from another website, so simp,y disabling the print dialogue won't work.
The label printer will not be set as the default printer and a requirement to set it as the default printer will be very undesireable.
If your solution is to create a print server/print connect app, this must run as a service (run in the background)
Barcode font on the label can be either be "Code 39" or "Code 128 Auto" and must be sharp without any distortion or compression artifact. It must be readable by a 1D barcode scanner. (See attached images)
All code must be commented with developers notes. Proper debugging must be used.
To help you with development, I can provide you with Teamviewer details in order to remote-in to a PC with the label printer connected to it. The printer will have a web cam pointed at it so that you can see the labels it prints.
Upon completion of this project, you must upload the web files to my server (you must use Teamviewer to access my server) and supply me with all source code for the project in a zipped folder together with any notes or research material you've collected.
When responding to this project, you must quote the word "watermelon" in your proposal. That way, I know you've read this project description. I will disregard any proposals as spam unless you quote this word in the first line of your proposal.
Budget is £60. This reflects the simplicity of my requirements and takes into account the readiness of existing open source code and libraries. It also reflects the turnaround time in which I expect this project to be completed; there's no hurry, take as long as you need. This is a "gateway" project. Nail this and there's much more to build onto it and develop further.
Thanks for reading the whole project description before responding and quoting the magic word, it saves me a lot of time trying to filter out the spam and time wasters. I look forward to your proposal.
