Hello,
I'm looking to improve the efficiency of our file management in our business.
Quick summary of file creation/flow
Video files are created on editing PC's
Video files are kept in order folders e.g. order 123456 would have 5 video files in it, each named 123456 Video 1 etc
Video files are uploaded to our NAS
Video files are pulled from the NAS for further processing on another set of computers
These video files are then rendered out again in a different video format directly to a different NAS
These processed files are then to be transferred to a particular digital storage device, that may be DVD, memory stick or cloud - We do this by moving the files to a select folder inside this NAS e.g. Dropbox Uploads, these files would then be manually copied from this folder to a PC for dropbox upload.
Issues with the current method which we are looking to fix:
1) Storage filling up - this causes issues as we cannot upload files or processing files become corrupted and output at 1kB - file management and automatic deletion could tackle this
2) Remove manual input - The files that are initially created need to be uploaded manually, naturally this gets forgotten now and again causing inefficiency. Files transferred for to processing PC's and to output format folders also is done manually which wastes time
Let me know if you have any questions,
Sean
